I’ve always wondered where the name maroon came from.
It’s a dark reddish, kind of burgundy color; yet whenever I hear of it I think of a shiny blue. “mar” makes me think it’s referring marine or something of the aquatic nature, giving off a blueish hue sense. And “oon” reminds me of the glistening moon.
Either way, I gotta find some change for the payphone ;)
